Accountable to You
A volunteer Board of Directors – members from the medical, scientific, academic, and business community - who work together, to develop and enhance the fundraising goals of the Foundation, governs the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation.
Our joint research initiative with CCAF-FCVI Inc, a national non-profit research and education foundation, resulted in a report entitled Reaching For Excellence. It focuses on the governance and performance reporting practices of The Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation, one of the largest hospital foundations in Canada. CCAF-FCVI Inc undertook a “governance audit” of our Foundation and worked with our board to develop ideas on how we could improve our capacity for good governance. One outcome from all this is that our foundation now organizes its work around three separate business lines: fundraising and donor relations, investment management, and fund granting.
The Reaching for Excellence report gives us a clear understanding of the roles of our Foundation Board and management. The audit was very useful and will allow us to offer our experience to other foundations in developing corporate governance and accountability procedures.
