This year marked the 3rd annual Ride to Conquer Cancer benefiting The Campbell Family institute at the Princess Margaret. A total of 4,108 participants raised $16.1 million for cancer research and patient care at The Princess Margaret. While some participants selected to do the 200km course, others took up an additional challenge with the newly introduced 200 mile route. The weather was cool and rainy at times, but that didn't stop anyone! Spirits were high as riders travelled together from Toronto to Niagara Falls in support of The Princess Margaret, one of the top 5 cancer research centres in the world.
Thanks to the Ride, funding ensures the sustainability of the most promising work being done to help Conquer Cancer In Our Lifetime. Of course, without your support we wouldn't be in a position to deliver breakthrough research and more effective therapies.
As President and CEO of The Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation, it is so important that we are accountable for your generous donation. It is for that reason that we like to communicate from time to time, about the incredible work happening that is having a global impact on people with cancer. When you have a moment, please take 5 minutes and read about just some of progress that we are making. Whether it's what we are featuring in this enewsletter, such as the advances in lung cancer treatment or tumour metabolism, or the many other advances that are taking place that are evident in our online annual report.
I am also ecstatic to report that today, Waterstone Human Capital, a leading executive search and professional recruitment firm, announced that PMHF is the national winner of the 2010 Canada's 10 Most Admired Corporate Cultures for the Broader Public Sector. For more information about this incredible achievement, please visit www.pmhf.ca where you can read more about the corporate culture at PMHF and how deeply we care about our cause.
So, on behalf of all of the researchers, doctors, nurses, support staff and volunteers at The Princess Margaret, thank you. Thank you for your support, thank you for believing in us and for believing in our vision – that together, we will Conquer Cancer In Our Lifetime.
